From the Book, 25 Years of Wurstfest Mugs: "In 1975, Opa's Haus sought to avert the turmoil caused by the short supply of mugs in 1974. The edition was doubled from 500 total pieces to 1000 total pieces. Thankfully! The 1975 Wurstfest Mug--all 1000 pieces--still sold out before Wurstfest was over. It was so sold out that, even today, I can vividly recall that toward the end of the festival we could not find a mug for O.E. (Pete) Hendricks, who was Wurstfest president that year and wanted one to help commemorate his service. (Eventually, we were able to help him acquire one.) In 1994, a cream mug from 1975 sold for $400, the most ever paid for a single Wurstfest mug. At Wurstfest 1975, the half-liter mug--offered in cream, gray and salt-gray--sold for $5.95 and the one-liter mugs for about two dollars more. The 1975 mug was the first to feature multicolored artwork. It was also the last produced by Opa's Haus of Steins (the old McDonald-Armke partnership) before McDonald left the business and it became Opa's Haus Inc." --Ken Armke
