From the Book, 25 Years of Wurstfest Mugs: "After several years of huge successes with the Wurstfest Mug series, I guess we were due for a comedown. And it happened with the 1977 Wurstfest Mug. Prior to 1977, we seemingly couldn't produce enough mugs. Five hundred weren't enough in 1974, a thousard weren't enough in 1975, and 1750 weren't enough in 1976. For 1977? Maybe 2000 wouldn't be enough; why not jump to 2500? Bad decision! We were still selling 1977 mugs (gray ones only) some 10 years later. Consequently, it's taken a long time for this issue to impact the secondary market. Today, however, the 1977 cream mugs are quite hard to acquire and even the gray ones bring a sizable return in comparison to the original investment of $7.50. The one-liter mug originally sold for about $9.50." --Ken Armke
