From the Book, 25 Years of Wurstfest Mugs: "The 1981 issue marked the emergence of the Wurstfest Stein (the half-liter mug equipped with an adorned lid). It was immediately successful and the 174 pieces were quickly sold. The 1981 unlidded mug was also well received, despite the fact that against an order for 270 cream and 150 gray Gerz-made one-liter mugs, we received 420 all-gray Wick-Werke mugs. In the aftermarket, the stgein--equipped with a dancing couple figurine modeled by Gedrz master Edwin Breiden--has brought as much as $175 and the mug as much as $117. Original price was $9.52 for the mug, $12.38 for the one-liter mug, and about $40 for the stein." --Ken Armke
