From the Book, 25 Years of Wurstfest Mugs: "For our third and final Goebelfest in 1984 (after 1984, we staged similar events at our store on River Road where they were less backbreaking), we reduced the edition limit on the year’s Goebel Wurstfest Mug back to 200, but the popularity of the issue was waning at the time. With no succeeding issues to generate interest, the 1984 mug was slow to sell out. Some 14 pieces were still in inventory as this was written more than 10 years later. Issue price in 1984 was $37.50, and the decor had a musicians theme. Perhaps someday collectors will recognize the uniqueness of the salt-glazed stoneware technique, and—whoknows?—this relatively rare series might take off. " --Ken Armke
