From the Book, 25 Years of Wurstfest Mugs: "In both artistry and popularity, the 1984 Wurstfest Mug has to rank near the top within the series. Pat Ford, a noted wildlife artist, had been commissioned by Opa's Haus to do designs for some special limited edition steins introduced in 1983. She became interested in the Wurstfest mug series and asked to do a design. We happily agreed. And her clever takeoff on the popular 'chicken dance' is now part of the lore of the series. Aiding Pat's effort was our decision to have the top and bottom color bands added to the mug. No doubt more so than ever before, the art sold the mugs. And we at Opa's Haus learned a lesson: get the best artists we could! From the day it was introduced to the present, the 1984 design has always sold extremely well. Issue price was again $9.52 for the half-liter mug and about $40 for the stein. The 1984 stein, incidentally, was the last of four to incorporate Breiden's dancing couple figurine." --Ken Armke
